holding a dream

This painting took ages.. it was a mixture of bad timing and slightly off-inspiration..
but at the end, everything worked out and I think this turned out just right :)
This was a commissioned painting by a friend.

digital commission.

A simple digital commission for Kare Ink.
I had so much fun painting her face but kinda lost interest in the hair and wings.

ohayocon commission.

This is a simple watercolor commission for a visitor
at Ohayocon 2010 at Ohio last week. It's pretty fun to make!

cartoon girls.

I made these pastel cartoons some time ago, and thought that I should probably do something with them. So now I've made them into little cards to be used! I think they're adorable :)
I'm gonna use them as thank you cards with every shop purchase too.

tempting persephone bookmark.

My Tempting Persephone image is now available as a bookmark!
I use it all the time :) I keep thinking that she's just looking up from the book she's reading..
and is asking me to keep the noise down!

opening light & sweet roses

I just listed these two images in my etsy as a 8 x 10in print.

The Opening Light is offering hope and love through her hands, from inside her heart. Nothing is impossible and everything is beautiful.
Sweet Roses is lost in delight within the love she has in her heart.

These paintings were done to help raise awareness for breast cancer. They are female personifications of a beautiful pink rose.

I will donate 5% of proceeds of this painting to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure.

tempting persephone.

A painting for a repeat customer's blog: Tempting Persephone.
She really liked my painting Persephone Destroys the Light,
so I made a matching one just for her. They look like sisters to me now :)

Here is the work in progress:
I think I'll make bookmarks of this image soon,
so keep checking back to my etsy! I add stuff very often!

scrabble art.

click on the pics to view the listings!

Scrabble tile pendants! I just love these things, they're so tiny and cute, so light and looks so trendy against my neck. So I thought I would try to make my own using my art!

But when my scrabble pieces arrived, I fell in love with the natural wood texture on em. I just can't bring myself to cover it up with artwork. So I took my ink and watercolors and painted faces on them, careful to maintain the wood texture, and then glazed them up with dimensional adhesive. They came out insanely awesome, and I can't wait to wear them out!

I will be making more of these.. I mean, I've got 98 more scrabble tiles! :)

The Moth Eater.

My latest painting, the Moth Eater.
Very much inspired by the beautiful autumn colors.
This will be in my Etsy as a print as soon as they arrive! :)

Oh and did I mention that everything in my etsy is 15% until next Monday?

marilyn.

As a painter of women, I'm often asked who I think are the most beautiful women in the world. My list is always changing except for a select few classics, but one woman always remains the top of the list. Marilyn Monroe.

I can't really say why, though. She's definitely got a beautiful face, but there are many girls with beautiful faces. Her cheesecake films frankly, in my opinion, did not age very well into our modern times. I find myself appalled by the ludicrous plots sometimes. And perhaps her back story added to the appeal, too. It was heartbreaking to see how much she was suffering when people thought she had it all. But there's lots of people who suffer in the world, so that can't be it.

All I know is this- whenever Marilyn is on screen, I just can't tear my eyes away. I remember watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and feeling quite sorry for her co-star Jane Russell because whenever Marilyn is on screen, I just can't look at anything else. I had to drink up every move she makes.

Part of it is the way she smiles her most seductive smile. Her half closed sultry eyes really add to the sexiness.. her breathy voice, and the way she moves, and her gorgeous, healthy body unlike the stick thin girls of today... all of this add to who I think is my most perfect movie star of all time. The two Marilyn ACEOs above are just teasers.. some time in the future, I want to paint a full fledged painting of Marilyn that expresses all I feel about her.

hey you!

This is a commissioned caricature portrait of my friend Val.
He wanted a painting of himself surrounded by mini-Vals in his different personas:
the gambler, the filmmaker, the superhero, the don juan and the lacrosse player.
I'm not sure about the cat, though. Maybe he just likes cats.

Buffy with Rogue & Gambit

Commissioned cards of Buffy and Rogue with Gambit.
I had mad fun painting these :)!
Technically, Rogue would have sucked all the power out of Gambit once she touched him, but er.. I'm gonna call artistic license on this.

teacakes!

Everytime I make one of these cards, I just feel so happy!!
I try to pour forth all my cuteness and happiness into them,
and keep them innocent, childish and of course, super sweet.
The bottom two are already sold, but you can get the top two in my Ebay!

ink girls

Emotional Blackmail / Atalanta
The Queen of Invisible People / Protection

I do think I am hopelessly obsessed with ACEOs.
The originals are currently for sale on my ebay.

recipe cards

Sneak peek of what's comin'! Recipe caaaards.
I worked on these till 7am, and didn't even want to go to sleep because I was having such an outrageous time! I'll take better pictures tomorrow and see how they do in my shop.
You can see a bigger version of the food here.

comic series II

Commissioned art trading cards. Good thing the commissioners gave me info about these comic book characters.. I had no idea who they were! But it was fun to make them and to find out about new characters. Wonder Woman is still my favorite though.

le teatub

It is not often I sell my original paintings, but I thought I'd give the teatub girls a try.

flower series

Flower series, this was a no brainer!
Rose, Cherry Blossom, Sunflower and Daffodil is up on ebay.

My favorite is Rose and Cherry Blossom of course.

Comic series

Original marker art! These are fun like hell to paint!

Blueberry

This is my second original ACEO.
She's the cutesy blueberry girl, and I love her so. I think the next one will be blackberry.

The only part about ACEOs that I don't like is to measure out the dimensions of the card. I should probably make a template or something!
